will my vortec heads that ive had built off my 98 Silverado motor fit an older sbc 350?
Yup
You gotta have a vortec carb'd intake if you are going to carb because the angle of the intake side(of the head) is different from old heads. Nice chunk of change for a new one. $200+
If you want to put an older motor in a vortec truck and still use the computer, the old block doesn't have sensor locations like the vortec block does, thus it won't work.
Trying to answer before ya ask ++peace
yeah im running carb but I wanna use my vortec heads cuz ive had them machined out for more power. and I don't mind spending the money on an intake. but would summit be the best place to find a intake for it?
Summit, Speedway, any high performance vendor. Speedway has some off brand ones for under $200.
i got a summit brand intake for vortec heads and it works great
is there some difference in the intake runner design or something for a intake for a vortec head ??? ive seen new ones at the swap meets and the only difference I can see is the angle on the 2 bolt holes on either side of the carb base they give ya 4 longer bolts or studs and short piece of tube with a angle cut on one end the first engine I had in my bogger came from a 94 buick 5.7 after I looked at the new ones I just took a file too the holes and made my own spacers for the 4 holes it worked fine for me and I got the intake for 25 bucks at a swap meet after that engine died lol over 400 k on it I took that intake back off and put it right back onto the next engine that is the old style heads

Guess they are compatible. I remember someone telling me a while back that the angle of the intake was different. Guess its just the bolts. The link above explains everything about them and how to make an old intake work. Has part #s there too
Yup, just the angle of the bolts is different that hold the intake on like stated above
Big frank, 94 wasn't vortec. Vortec has 8 intake bolts, your 94 had 12
Vortec don't have center bolts for the intake. All 8 bolts are out toward the ends. You had TBI heads and in that case the inner 4 holes are on an angle not straight.
soo by vortec ya meen a ls series engine or ??? im confused dosent take much some days ;D

55-86 all bolts had the same angle
87-95 had the center 2 bolts on a different angle to clear the TBI unit
96+ were vortec which was a whole different animal. instead of having 6 bolts on each sife, they only had 4, eliminating the 2 center bolts
I got an older 350 block with alum vortec heads and matched dart intake intake, works great.
