Title: Gear Ratio

I have a 1999 Silverado 1500 4 wheel drive how do I figure out what gears are in the rear end.

take rear end cover off and jack one side up leaving one side down and spin the side that is up and wait till u see numbers on the gears then take the big number and divide it by the little one

Jack it up rotate the tire and count how many times the driveshaft turns to one full rotation of the tire

Check the glove box for RPO codes.

GU6 is 3.42
GT4 is 3.73
GT5 is 4.10

Yeah me too. It must have been a special order. They normally have a or 3.73 3.42 you got lucky on that...
