so i picked up a 95 dodge ram 1500 short bed single cab for a price i couldnt refuse and i want to make it a mean little mud truck. what id like to do is sell the 318 to one of the local derby drivers and build a 360 to a 400+ ci small block with a hot cam and commando heads and the works. id also like to run a 727 transmission and a 205 transfer case and a set of 3/4 ton axles and churn a set of 35 inch nitto mud grappler tires. is there anything else i need to know about these trucks cause this my first dodge build as i got tired of wrenching on chevys lol
Have a motorhome with a 440 and 727
Only 39,000 miles
Give you a hell of a deal
well you don't need a big heavy 205 for 35s and you don't need to stroke that 360 to make good power either
Steering box braces that is a dodge week spot and the steering shaft
heres a pic of a dodge we run, its not super fast but runs real strong and chruns some mud. Dodges make pretty good mud trucks
its a 99 3/4 ram 360 magnum, 35/16 boggers/ dec headers / radiator in rear along with batt. and fuel cell intake piped into the cab
if you check out magnum swap.com they have a ton of tricks for these motors
if you really want to open the 360 up either put some indy x heads from hughes engine or throw a 408 stroker kit in it (it will $ you)
Run a locker or spool in the rear for sure it will help big
you will clear those 35s with a 2.5 front lift
for the front axle ditch the vacuum locking for the 4wd either keep it locked in or by a manual lock for it
And keep some fresh uni joints for the front axle to ( you will tear'm up with a little power to them )
If you run the stock heads for now be sure to cut those stupid sprak plug shrouds of them they will hold water around the plugs and you will run for about 5 mins before it sputters like crazy
Nice DODGE,cj and a nice jeep to. applaudd ==wgm GotMud?
