Im pretty sure this off road site is mostly consumed with the full size ORV group and not too many ATVs or dirt bike people, so it probably wont matter to you guys alot who only have to pay for one ORV, but I was wondering how many of you full size Off Road folks are ready to take on the new $ 36.25 ORV sticker when you go and renew it for April of 2014?
With the high price of fuel and the families who have 3 kids & mom/dad with dirt bikes and/or ATVs, its going to be an expensive sport that I think will have many of these folks leaving the sport. Hope im wrong.
Believe me its going to kill me...I got my mud truck, my dd, and 4 ATVs, and 2 dirt bikes that will all need stickers, do the math....36.25x 8= sorry family were not all going out at once this year loll
Just ticks me off to no end . There is no more little increases , why not more like 5 bucks or so , could have understood and somewhat agreed to keep it all going but they are robbing us . GotMud?
Did the bill actually pass threw? I did a quick Google search and dint find much info

Sorry my friend, but this will do you NO GOOD because as of April 1st of 2014, EVERYBODY must renew their ORV stickers. If you go before that date, you will be paying for a 2013 ORV sticker [ $16.25 ] and it will only be valid until April 1st of 2014 at which time you are required to update to the new $36.25 2014 ORV sticker.

HB 4669 was BARELY passed on 6-19-13 by a very NARROW margin, Its a shame because the people that were mostly in favor of these higher fee's were mainly the non-profit clubs and the DNR who stand to PROFIT the most from these fee increases. A random survey taken around 2010 by Dr Charles Nelson of MSU indicated that about 65% of ORV users who were surveyed, did NOT want a fee increase. Im not sure you understand but I'll try and help you out a little here. A $ 26.25 ORV sticker will only give you access to ride the FAR RIGHT MAINTAINED PORTION of those county roadways opened up under PA 240 ONLY! This $26.25 does NOT allow you access to anything EXCEPT those county roadway openings under PA 240. The Mounds and SL does NOT fall under PA 240.
Michigan passed PA 240 somewhere around 2010 and it allows the counties that choose to, the authority to open-up the maintained far right hand portion of their county roadways so that ORVers and ATVers can now drive into their towns to access gas, food, lodging ect ect.
So what this really means is that IF you live in a county that passed an ordinance under PA240 and you live on that street, you may now operate your ATV or ORV directly on ONLY the roadways that are opened under PA240 for that particular county. You may NOT operate on the trailways OR Scramble areas like SL or the Mounds with the $26.25 sticker. This will require you to purchase the $ 36.25 ORV sticker which will give you access to PA 240, the designated trails and scramble areas.
SO, unless you are operating EXCLUSIVELY under PA240, you WILL pay $36.25 this coming April 1st for an ORV sticker, PERIOD!
Fees are likely to go up again in 2017.
Ahh I see, well guess ill be sticking to private bogs and private off-road parks, not gonna pay 36.25 for each of my 5 orv's.

I cant say I blame you. I know a few guys who plan on putting their new 2014 ORV sticker on a detachable plate, this way it can be used from one ORV to the other.

I wound not recommend running from law enforcement, its a felony in Michigan. Plus, its very hard to outrun their radios, and often times, they may have a chopper in the air that you'll never outrun.
+ they will probably take whatever it is your driving/riding if they catch u running.it would be worth the increase if they actually groomed and maintained the trails.it will just be more money in their pockets.

It's not worth if for the people that don't use the trails!! I don't snowmobile, nor trail ride anymore, if they had seperate stickers or combos packs for trails and stuff and then just general orv that would be more satisfactory,

I have been out of snowmobileing for a few years now and un,less something has changed in that time frame, your orv dose not pertain to sleds as they have their own trail permit that you have to purchase.
I do agree to a previous statement about the price. $20 more is way to much there is very little maintenance that goes on at silver lake and the other offroad places usually have local club that donate time to help maintain the sport, so I see no reason why the price has to be as high as it is.
i just won't be buying orv stickers anymore, it was bad enough at 15 when they didn't do a single thing to maintain the trails, now at more than double the price forget it, around here they treat you the same weather yu have one or not so it doesn't really matter anyway fo f-em

Where I trail drive in my truck at in Gladwin near, Estey Rd/M-61 area.........you don't need an ORV sticker. ORV sticker is for vehicles driving trails that are 52/58 inches or less in width.

Up around M-61 area.........that I've driven for 17 years, not once was I ever told to have an ORV sticker on my trucks. I don't understand why guys buy them when they are for vehicles driving on trails that are less than 6ft in width....which no small 4x4 could even fit on to begin with.
