Title: Wheel width/offset- tire width/ tire rub
Post by: Jthomas on February 14, 2014, 11:00:45 PM
I'm trying to come up with a new wheel/tire combo and I need a little help

I'll be using dana 60 front and 14blt rear W/ disk brakes. I'll be using a 16.5" rim

Ideally, I would like the tire/ load be directly over the wheel bearing. I plan on running a 37-38" tire, but I don't know how wide yet. What's the widest tire I can fit without rubbing the frame?  Like if someone says they rub with a 40x17x16.5, and someone says they don't rub with a 38x15???

Long story short, I'm trying to fit the widest rim, widest tire 37-38" tall, not rub my frame, and keep the load over the wheel bearing

I know there is no perfect fit, but I'm just trying to get a good idea so I can shop around

Lot just depends on the trucks wheel well and frame width but a set of 16.5x10 that is senterd is a good bet... and why 16.5 if you have to buy wheels any way I'd buy 16 lots of tire selections for them and less likely to bead roll just my 2 cents

They don't have to be 16.5. I just figured I'd have more clearance  for brakes. But if a 16 fits without me having to trim the caliper I'll use that. I'm removing my fenderwells, but I'll have links and coilovers. I know in the rear I can run a pretty centered rim, but I'm not sure about the front

As far as the frame width, it's just a standard k5

16" should clear the brakes

Even with with centered rims? They are just stocK brakes
