Title: quick question need advise
Post by: 95-Jeep on June 15, 2014, 12:18:21 PM
I am getting ready to purchase a vehicle. I have found a 2001 jeep grand Cherokee with the inline 6.  It has 200k miles but just had the head rebuilt and exhaust manifold replaced,  I am not very familiar with jeep so I don't know if I should expect a future money pit. Or if I should be fine or if I should leave it alone.  Body is in great shape. It hasn't been lifted. Any advise fellow mudders?   Oh it will be a daily driver. Occasional mud. Not alot

With that many miles you may wanna prepare yourself for broken piston soon, or be very easy on the throttle and stay our of the higher rpm, the piston skirts have a tendancy to break...

Not saying it will happen but I've seen it happen enough to fore warn you other then that they are nice jeeps

What he said. I separated my head from the block because of hydro lock (my fault). Put a new head on it and it ran fine till Trans lost overdrive at 250,000 again my fault full throttle or no throttle.
