Title: anyone running military tires?
Post by: jimmy101 on July 22, 2014, 01:32:10 PM
I was looking at a set of 395/85r20 military tires to mount on  gm 2.5 ton axles.  Was wondering if anyone had any experience with the big military tires.  They have around a "G" rating I believe.  Seems to me that they would be hard on the rest of the suspension not to mention the need for a kidney belt.  Was thinking 14.9x24 tractor tires might be better but I don't know.  They will be under a 87 full size chevy with a sbc pushing around 400-450 hp on leaf springs.  Don't know if I will be able to create enough wheel speed  to even run this size tire .  Looking for help and advice.

Those 46s are heavy! I'd go tractors, better dig, better traction, less weight. There is a reason you don't see many military tired boggers

Figured there was a reason no one used them.
