I picked up this '53 buick in Caro,MI this August. It was sitting outside a scrap yard as I was painting the road past it, I pulled in front of it, asked about it, made an offer and drove back down 2 days later to take her home.
The plans for her include, a 4" chopped top, shaved door handles, suicide rear doors, bagged and the original 322 nailhead will be replaced with a Cadillac 500.
For color, I'm looking at heavy metal flake gold with a Kandy tangerines or root beer overlay, with a metallic silver roof.
These are the absent floor pans...New ones being made as we speak. Ordering New rockers. And having a friend build me an aluminum 20 gallon gas tank.
The wife is buying me these and having the centers powdercoated to match the paint. They're 20's and I already checked the clearance, no problem.
This is the overall design idea
I like the rims that are on it, lol. Cool car, I probably seen it at Riverview a few times.
I was gonna say riverview always has had cool stuff like that. Went there 2-3 times a week when I was a kid. Sweet project!
==awesome
The only things that I'm having trouble locating are the diecast top bar to the grill and the toothier grills like on the '50 buicks, mercurys etc.
Personally I actually like the orginal grill that's on the car. It has that old bomber lead sled look to me. But its your car. Keep us updated should be a sweet build when shes done. Good find!
==kp that's freakin sweet applaudd
