i am surprised no one has commented on the purposed gas tax increase. .23 cents a gallon by 2018 sounds a bit excesive.
At this time id rather pay for that instead of tires because a pothole ate another one. We need a new state flower.
I heard .25 cents in 2015 and by 2018 it will be a total of .45 cents. I have an opinion but I am going to keep it to myself.
highest gas taxes in country, highest car insurance rate in country top five in unemployment Michigan whats next for us
Time to pack up and leave this shithole!
Sad part is we voted no, and they plan on doing it anyways.
I said we should collect more from the Canadians, up whatever they pay to dump their garbage here. Maybe charge them a road use tax for their garbage trucks or even people who come here to work. I know some cross over here to get gas because its cheaper anyways, but I'm sure others fill up there drive here to work and drive back without paying any gas tax. Has to be a fix somewhere...
I'm also not against taking bids from road repair contractors outside of Michigan, seems like taxpayers are being taken advantage of. It might cost a Michigan contractor the job, but it also might get them to bid lower, if a out of state contractor wins the bid, chances are they will need workers either way.
