Carburetor or fuel injection....what makes more Horse Power??

I read an article many years ago about this question...............and basically.........it said that a.........motor doesnt care what sits on top of it............just as long as it gets the same air/fuel mixture.........it will make the same amount of HP.

Everybodys thoughts on this one???

depends on how the carb is setup as well, my buddys holley on his sbf has some wicked throttle response. he just tinkered with it a bit and tried running different setups, etc

engines don't care how they get the fuel and air they need. as long as you get 14.7:1 A/F idle and part throttle and around 12:1 WOT the engine will make the same horsepower with any induction setup. an engine is a big air pump. air in air out. more air = more power doesn't matter how you do it. if you take 2 identical engines running identical internal components, and put a carb on 1 and FI on the other. set them up with the same A/f ratios through out the operating range and dyno test them. in a perfect world they should put out near identical power numbers.

a engine with direct port which sprays fuel into the combustion chamber is proven to provide more power than carb/tbi

if that wasn't the case the CPI 350 would have the same horse power as a TBI 350

same internals, different fuel delivery

Not a fair comparision, the heads, intake and cam are different and thats why there is a difference in power.

Take a vortec headed small block and put a GOOD intake and a TBI system and the  power would be very close.
