Could someone check and see if there is a fuse for the blower motor? My wife drove my suburban to work this morning and said the heater stopped blowing...I want to make sure there is a fuse before I have her stop at autozone on the way home and get a pack. I know there is not a fuse for the power windows thats why I am wondering if there is one for the blower motor.

I can't answer the fuse question, but my truck did the same thing once. The wire that plugs in on the PS to power the blower wiggled loose. Still looked plugged in but wasn't making contact.

Thanks I will check connections...when my wife gets home I will only have about 1/2 hr of daylight left so I need to get on it asap.

blower motor resistor it's on the outside in the engine bay where the blower is on the box on the firewall check connections but most likely it's bad

How do you check it? Can I ohm it and see if there is continuity? Is it a resistor or relay?

yes it's a resistor block there will be a resistor there for every speed but HI if it doesn't work on HI then I dought it's the resistor block.

there's a purple wire and a black wire that hook up to the motor the purple should have power when the fan is supposed to be on (how much depends on the speed that's selected) and the black is ground. Here's the order I'd check it in.

1: check for a fuse I don't remember if they have one, but I think they do

2: does the fan run on HI
yes, check the resistor block
no, check for power and or ground a the motor. (and go to step 3)

3: power and good ground at the motor
yes, motor is bad
no, check for power at the switch or fix ground if there's no ground.

Thank you I will check in that order...I had my wife look at the fuses and she said there are 2 of them. Maybe thats because I have rear AC?

check all your fuses... on my s10 when the brake fuse goes out the dash lights and radio dont work.. its GM wiring.. lol. But yes there is a fuse should say something like HTR/AC somethin like that. If you have volt meter go right to the power wire going to the motor, see if your getting power... if u are the  motor went.. but if not its probably a fuse.

what year is the burban... im guessing about a 87 from the pic..

Disturban

It is an early 1988. 88 was the change over year from tail gate to barn doors and ifs front end.

well i looked everywhere i can think of, cant find any wiring diagrams.. sucks not bein at the college.. can get any wiring diagram for anything there.. its nice.... but id jus check for power at the fuse, if there is, check coming out of the fuse, then at resistor block, then at motor until u find out where your losing the power at.

Disturban

It was just a loose connection at the switch...I have heat now  ;D

jdman730A

my 86 did that and it was only bad connections
