I found a hole in header right next to the flange.  Can this be welded / fixed at all?

If anyone here can fix it for me, how much would it run?

It can be done.I've gotten pretty good at bubble-gumming my rotted old headers together. Just use a mig on low heat, and slowly stack the welds until you have the hole filled in. It helps to hold the tip parallel to the hole, and work slowly,or the pipe gets too hot and blows out.
Wheel it like you stole it ,or borrowed it from some dude you really don't like.
Get busy livin',or get busy dyin'.

I am glad to hear that it can be fixed!  I have no welding experience though.  Anyone around my area willing to give it a try for me?  How much would it cost?

every time I try to weld metal that has rusted through like that it never ends well. It can be done, I would recommend a oxy actelyne welder though, it's better for rusty metal. The header should be removed to do it though, don't want to warp the heads and have a header with a bigger hole than you started with.  ==doh

hmm, I don't really want to drive an hour to get it done, but if I have to I will....

Got it fixed yesterday.  I took the header off and went to a local custom fab shop and he fixed it up for $25!  It was actually much worse then I had originally thought, there was that hole and also three cracks that needed welded up.  Sounds great now!

now if only I could get that junk edelbrock carb to run right....
