Long story short I switched insurance companies to save a few bucks. Everything has been great for the past 6 months and now I get a letter in the mail saying they ran a credit check on me and because of my credit score they are jacking it way the F**K UP! $1100 for 6 months!

WTF does my credit score have to do with insurance? I have a clean driving record...no tickets in over 20 years and that is all that should matter. Needless to say I will be switching back to my old insurance company!

On another note I am trying to clean up my credit so I can buy another house soon and when someone runs a credit check it messes with your score and makes it harder to get a mortgage. When a lender see's all these credit checks they think nobody else will give you a loan so they think twice about giving you one of their loans. So I wonder if I have grounds for a law suit? I never authorized them to do a credit check!

i agree on the credit check for your insurance. its BS i see it the same way what does my credit have to do with car insurance. its another way for them to make money.

ya its bull p00 man. i have actually went to job interviews that wanted my permission to do a credit check. i was like wtf dose my credit have to do with how hard of a worker i am?  i admit it my credit is shot. im working my but off to try to get it good again, but i dont see what someones credit has to do with them trying to make a living to support there family. i understand places like banks, armord cars, stuff like that would want to run your credit but not factory work!

Yep I had (Allstate) insurance and was paying like $520 for 6 months insurance and that was for my truck, my wifes truck and my kids truck...I switched to Hanover insurance group because they quoted me $470 for 6 months. And now they want to more than double it? I am switching back as I am typing this as well as telling them what I think of their prices and what they can do with them. I also told them I will be spreading the word to everyone I know not to ever get insurance from them...so DO NOT BUY INSURANCE FROM (HANOVER INSURANCE GROUP) THEY ARE CROOKS! ==roll

i got a quote from allstate one time and it was the lowest price so i when to a local branch and was in the process of getting my insurance then they ran my credit and changed the price to more than double. i told them what they could do with that. I went with progressive for a few years with no problems. then i switched to a local agent and he looked around for me on his own and found me a better company to go with. dropped my insurance more than half. I have never had an agent work for me like that before. I told him i was very impressed with what he did for me and would recommend him when ever i could. So if anyone near me is looking call Knights Insurance in frankenmuth. Very nice guy

when i went to progressive they did a credit check.. which i thought was odd at the time too.. came back and told me 1400 every 6 months for PLPD... because i have no credit good or bad. Lady on the phone told me i could get it cheaper even if i had bad credit. ==wtf  ...  went to a local place (americo/allied insurance) walked out 30 minutes later with PLPD for $75 a month.

We have State Farm and have never had a problem We've been with them for almost 11 years
    we can't find cheaper insurance

i've had progressive for the last few years with no problems :)

FWIW- I have had State Farm for years with a credit score of about 1 loll  . Switching back won't help as all companies now use credit scores to set rates. I think it's a crock. The justification given to me by my old insurance company was that people with lower credit scores are moe likely to file a claim. So I asked her if she ever filed a claim. She said yes. I asked if she had good credit. She said it's great. I said that just proves it's BS! With my p00 score I've NEVER filed a claim. One more way for the organized crime syndicate (aka INSURANCE) to take your money. It's the only business that you HAVE to pay and pray you never need it. Then when you do need it they charge you double for using what you've been paying for all along!
