I'm going to start on a new project soon. Drivetrain is a 427/350/208 Dana 60 front 14 rear 4.10 gears. Leaf springs all 4 corners.  Question is which would be better solid or rubber motor and transmission mounts? Its only going to be used for mud.

Is there any benefit of one over the other?

x2 Solid motor mounts, rubber trans mount but strap it down or get a real good aftermarket mount.

Solids were made for drag racing where every micro second counts, less flex in the drivetrain, motor, and tranny means quicker forward movement.  In return, solid motor mounts are to used with motor plates, not nessesary if you have mid and front motor plates.

Solid motor mounts alone puts alot stress on the side of block, and will create  hairline cracks around motor mount bolts on the block. ive heard some people say if you use solid motor mounts...use poly urethane tranny mount.....then they cant figure out why they keep breaking  tcases and trannys.....alittle flex in the mounts will protect you engine block and tranny/tcase.
Poly Urethane mounts are stronger than rubber also.

x2  all the extra stress on the frame can make it flex and break apart

millser

maybe 1 out of 100 will stres the block or breack the frame iv been running solid my hole life and neaver any trouble but like every thing some where it will breack

randycrane79

ive run both and broke both so i guess its a pref type thing ya take a chance just like takin a chance on open ing the door and getting hit bye car if its time its time

dhartman

Which ever you run just do the trans and engine the same. You want them both to react the same not one solid and one flexing. Just my 2 cents.
