Gas Stain???

I got this gas stain on my 70 that looks alot worse and sticks out more than the rotted cab corners and rockers. just seeing if theres anyway to remove it until i do body work this winter? ive buffed it and ive tried turtle wax "color back" color restorer with no luck. thanks.

lightly wet sand with really fine grit like 2000 or 3200, then use rubbing compound, then swirl remover, then wax.

The stain was on there when i bought the body. i wouldnt be that careless. lol  ok thanks prograde ill try that.

yeah good luck with that, i got the same problem on my 78 dually, both the gas caps leak when i take a corner it will splash out some gas, it looks like p00.

When you tried buffing it out did the what ever you were using to buff it out turn Red?
B/C if id did you truck is going to be a single stage. Acrylic Urethane, Acrylic Enamel and plain old Lacquer based paints are like this.

Witch means there is nothing really protecting the paint and pigments in the paint.  The gas will eat the paint over time and destroy the pigments in it and it will start to spread out and will bubble that paint as well in some cases.  But when you go to repaint it Make sure you take that section all the way to bare metal.  The gas will eat threw you new paint job and ruin it over time.
