cleaning out rust??

ok so i tore down the big block tonight..there is some rust in the top of the bore..,,so can i scotch brite it or will it burn off when i run it..nothing deep just on the surface?? or ideas??

use a hone.

how  bad is the rust? surface rust or deep rust?  use a ball hone not flat stone hone.

scotch brite and wd-40. wouldnt hone it unless going all new.
