Charter internet..

Just got charter internet and tv hooked up, who else uses them?  The tv and computer work great, but i signed up for the express internet thats sposed to be 12mb with "speed boost" and ive done speed test 10 times and the best ive got was



The computer is hooked up to a ethernet cable would that be slower than wifi? Im planing on going to get a wifi router later today.

Wifi is slower than ethernet. Looking at your speeds you have issues and should call your isp and complain.

Try running this SG TCP Optimizer...maybe your computer is not configured for hi speed internet.
http://www.speedguide.net/downloads.php run the first program on the list and play around with the settings, it is pretty self explanatory once you get into it. Then run the speed test again.

just got off the phone with them, pretty sure they dont have any customer support that speaks english. now they are telling me to get all the channels im paying for out in my living room i have to buy another box for $5 a month.

Im downloading the program from that link right now, got the charter guy coming to check it out tomorrow also. Hopefully its not the same pothead that showed up the first time to hook everything up when it was just my g/f here and was asking her a bunch of weird questions.

ive ran it over and over, its never got any faster than the first result i posted.

according to charters speed test     speedtest.charter.com  my download is only 1.2mbps

then there is something wrong for sure. just have to have the tech look at it. he can test the speed at the modem. more than likely its either a bad modem or the cable coming into the house is bad. but i could be wrong. good luck.

I know someone who had basically the same problem. Come to find out the squirrels had the wire coming to the house half chewed.

Dunno, I think i have the cheapest one that comes with the hd cable/phone internet package.
