454 gas to Cummins diesel swap

Cant afford to run a 468 BBC all over the place anymore and need a Cummins, they tell me a 91/94 P pump is the way to go, really have no idea what market rate is for one as I don't see them for sale very often, figured one of you all might have a clue as to where to start looking for one, Craigslist is useless there has to be a better source.

Transmission wise I found a NV 4500 2x trans I can run with a divorced 205 case question is will the transmission hold up to the diesel torque or am I stuck running a TH400 or SM465/Clark 5 speed trans the 465 is a byTch to shift, Clark is not much better would really like to run the NV4500 just not sure it will handle the abuse.

Anyone done one of these conversions? would like to come into this project ahead of the learning curve for a change, trial n error is just  not as fun as it used to be

The early ones (pre 94) were a ve pump, they make quite a bit less power and have huge housings on the chargers which make them very laggy. But with a few hundred bucks you can make em a great tow rig motor that's fun to drive. The 94-98 motors are the ones everyones after, those have the ppump and are very capable of pushing a ton of fuel and making big power. A 24v swap ist going to be a whole lot more work, and espically if you can get a wrecked truck to part out. With the 24v you can easily adjust the power levels from stock to over 400hp with buttons, great street manners and lots of off road fun.

As for price, 1300-1800 is what a lot are going for. The nv4500 is an excelent trans to use behind it, just mae sure to adress the 5th gear nut issue if it hasn't been and run the castrol oil in it.
