it is just a extra block i didn't know if i should keep it tray and sell it or just scrap it.I already have 1 complete 460 that im rebuilding right now.Just tired of steping over it in the grage thankd for the help

I just scrapped a brand new 3800 block, no main caps, sucked, the block had 0 miles on it from GM.

How much is a line bore these days? And how much is another block and how hard to find is it? Is it worth line boring? If you put main caps from a different block on yours, you MUST line bore it as it most likely will not allow the crank to turn, and even if it will turn, it wont be anywhere close to right. It might work, plastiguage will tell how it fits in the spots that you put the plastiguage at, but it wont tell the whole story all the way around. I have been down this road before, line bore is a must. Just gotta weigh out the pros and cons and decide. Just to give you an idea, I WOULD have a 283 line bored if there was enough left of the cylinders for an 040 motor, but I would NOT line bore a typical 350 unless it had a good STANDARD bore. The block needs to be magnafluxed and measured all the way through to see if its worth workin on, again, gotta weigh it out. Alot of things to consider before either scrappin or fixin.

x2 on that machine work gets expensive quick, but if it's a good block it can be worth it, but typically a 350 is cheeper to replace than rebuiild

Older 350 blocks that have a high nickel content and will take standard pistons are gettin real hard to come by. Idk about the 460, are they rare..?
