well we bought a 99 kia sportage and i had to put a new radiator and heater core in it along with a new head because the po didnt check the antifreeze and it overheated since the radiator was leaking really bad. anyways 5 months after i fixed all that stuff the heater core started to leak so i replaced it now 1 month after i replaced the thing it started to leak again. there replacing it for me again but I would like to know why it keeps leaking like this. cant be taking the dash all apart and crap every month or so. if this on leaks i am bypassing the damn thing and the wife will just have to deal with no heat.

did somethin wear a hole into it ??or whys it leakin the first time ??

Crazymays77

i dont see any holes in it. the first one broke right at the inlet outlet tubes. the first one i bought and had to replace was leaking where the alum tubes connect to the plastic tank. this one i cant see where its leaking but it is leaking.

yeah when i did all the work the first time. why? i know the heater core is what is leaking i filled it up with water and its running out somewhere just cant see where.

make sure the rad cap is releasing pressure. if its not or if theres a small head gasket leak it could be overpressurizing the cooling system. heater core would be the weak point

BigFrank

strap one  from a chevy truck  to the dash  and run longer hoses  ==jk  pressure thing could be a issue  the aluminum they make stuff out of now adays is pretty thin  ??? ??? ???

burl

Yup sounds like your building up too much pressure, are you bleeading the system good? Like bf said put a chevy in it

well its back together again. put a new radiator cap on it also. I found an all metal heater core so i plan to buy that and put it in the garage so if this one goes bad again i can just put that one on there maybe it will not leak like these ones are.

Radiator pressure tester!   Youll find your leak in no time at all!

Always use all metal heater core, stay away from any heater core with plastic parts they are junk...thats what your problem is!
