Need to kno what kind of Dana 44 this is.. bought another one to do a swap and nothing is the same and why does the one n the picture has a steering arm on the passenger side.. any help would be great

The top pic has a crossover steering arm. The bottom one has a regular steering arm. Take the part off the bottom axle, and put it on the top axle? Or run crossover steering

That steering arm is "extra". It has it on both sides of the axle. As far as the axle goes....I'm pretty certain that we have identified it as a D44 by the numbers on it. Ring gear is 8.5" and the inside diameter was 5.5". I just need to find an open (loaded) carrier that is 30 spline that fits this ring gear and we should be good.

44 8 F is stamped on the front.

but you need the right carrier for the gear you running.

2.75  to 410  is one carrier.    456  to 538  is  one carrier.  from 538  and  up is another.

they do  make thick geare for them to so you can put a 488 gear on a 410 carrier.

you  just need to know what carrier  you  got.

What gear was on it?
I have 4:88 on it. I'm trying to get rid of the welded spider gears for an
open set up. I need to replace the whole loaded carrier.
