I really need to look at someones wiring harness.

Need to build one and put into the suburban, this mess in it isnt going to cut it.

The only accessorys that works is 2 power windows and the blower motor. My headlights/tail lights and turn signals ONLY work when its running????  not even in the RUN position with the engine off. The 4 ways wont work at all, when I turn them on and hit the brakes the turn signals up front both light up....

I knew the wiring was going to be trouble as soon as I seen the orange extention cord running down the frame and the 50+ splices and inline fuses under the dash.

mines a army truck but your welcome to look it over.  6.2 12/24 volt system

I dont think that will work, like you said its a 12/24 and doesnt the army trucks also have a turbo? I dont remember. Mines non turbo 12v with the pre 85 glow plug controller.

the glow plug controller I can work around... dont have to find a pre 85 truck to look at. Just any 12v non turbo 6.2 truck.

I dont know what the 24v part effects? just starting or? if its only in the starter harness I could probably work around that too.... most the mess in mine is firewall to rear bumper.

betterbeaters

starter and glow plugs are 24v everything else should be the same and 6.2s never had turbos army or not.... mine is a 86.. all light wiring and such should be similar?

6.2s with Turbos were offered by GM dealers. Some do have the Banks Sidewinder kit installed before they were sold off the lot.

I dont think the mid 1980's CUCV M1008   1 ton chevy 4x4 military trucks had TURBO motors.......but rather just the standard 6.2 diesel.

Why the fk would the Gov. pay for something like that.........

Military 6.2s were never turbo'd when used in the military.

It wasn't just the 6.2 diesel though, either. It was a J code, non-emissions, more powerful 6.2 diesel built for military use. C code 6.2s were emissioned civilian engines.

As far as wiring goes, besides the particular engine components themselves, it's the same wiring as any other GM truck.

But yeah, like I said eariler, a Turbo 6.2 diesel was offered by GM.

Yes. I think it's in the range of 25 hp or so. Not much, but the biggest part is the non-emissions. Has to be a J-code engine though.
