Soldiers have bought home war souviners for centuries.......including guns.

I dont think this guy should be going to court..............they should have either just confiscated it................or converted it to Semi auto.....and gave it back to him.

Machine guns are illegal to own unless you go thru the proper steps to own one. That marine knew better.

very true........but then again I knew a WWII vet who sent home a complete German MG42 machine gun piece by piece...........after officals caught on .......his mom had to surrender it to the local authorities..........who ended up giving it back......once they turned in into a DEWAT  (deactivated war trophy)............no harm done........and nobody was prosecuted.

I found all that out back in 1995 when his (war trophy) was on display here in Midland for the 50th Ann. of WWII VE day.

For a vet who did his duty..................its not like he was trying to sell it illegally......or use it illegaly....

Laws are different now than 60yrs ago,  It is the law and he knew better, he bragged about it and got caught. They also said that he was linked to the selling of weapons brought back illegally, whether that is true or not who knows.  He Knew what he was doing and still did it, I am not going to feel sympathetic for him getting what he deserves for breaking the law, there is no justification for that, and being that he was in the military you would think he would have a little more integrity.

I prefer to obtain my firearms legally, no matter how "cool" they looked. There are many temptations, even if you know you won't get caught. But if your not honest with yourself, who will you be honest with?      coming from just another Vet. :)
