I see a couple of Jeeps that run up and down 96 all summer long with full size axles all summer long never seen them pulled over once. My Jeep has stock axles with a 3 1/2 back spacing and 12 1/2 wide tires stuck out 4 inches past the body and never got messed with. As I was told by a South Lyon cop the law states that they can ticket you if your tires hang out past you fenders but unless you give them a reason to stop you most will just let go with out a second look they got better things to do then hand out fix-it tickets to every lifted truck they see.

Unless you are doing something stupid they usually leave you alone, but if you want to play it safe put some wide mudflaps on it.

when I still street drove my 95 wrangler I had fullsize axles with either 42" tsls or 35x16x15 boggers with like 2" of backspace and never had a problem.
