Non c clip axle into a c clip housing?

Can it be done? Can the non c clip axle and dif go into a housing that was a c clip style? That would solve the shock mount issue. ==noob

lil more info would help..

axle type.. 10.12.14 bolt etc...
ford, chevy, toyota ...
