about a month ago my 2000 dakota had the rear end go out and it was caused by the the stupid lil bolt that holds the big pin in place inside the carier (my spelling stinks lol) it decided to break and let the big pin slip out and shear and causing the 2 spider gears snap now with it all taken apart all seems unscathed  i am gona try and pice it back together because i need the truck up n running what can i do to hepl prevent this from hapening again??

Hammerlane

The bolt broke ???  and the pin came out ???

I've never seen the bolt break, had them back out or come undone..
if the bolt broke you need to determine why.. or you may simply be repairing it again in the future.

Over the Edge Sharpening systems, cutlery, shear, scissor sharpening

It's all fun and games till someone gets knocked up.. down or out !
Gone postal.. back in a minute!

that happens with them. stop this from happen again sell the truck, or change rear end, to some other type.

freak accident i would assume, ive been putting 400+ horse to a 9 1/4
rear for over 8 years with boggers as a matter of fact ive had this same axle in two
different truck with no problems ever, usually your pinion bearing will be
the first problem with them, i also had a 99 ram with a 9 1/4, 7 1/2 years
no problems, my bud finally bought it to use it at his junk yard for a yard
truck.......still going to this day and hes had it for 3

I've had the bolt that holds the pin break before. Doing 1 wheel peels on wet pavement, blew the ds shaft. I'm thinking the force of it breaking busted the bolt. In my case anyways, chevy 10 bolt

I would get another axle which would be cheaper,  or have someone experienced set it
Up, no offense,  but something is definitely wrong, wether it be the setup or the components
