what could be causeing this? HELP

i used to have Edelbrock carb. I got nothing but problems I mean endless problem right out from box new so I traded it in for an 750 double pumper holly and I was happy. So my advise is to sell or trade if ya can! Good luck! I HATE EDELBROCK!! Sorry I had to release my anger inside iof me.

Squirell

there is a o ring down there that is probably dry rotted. that is the problem i usually get with them
I had the full size thing it just bored me!!!

The only people you need in your life are the ones who prove they need you in theirs

Its all fun and games till someone gets knocked up, down or out

Edelbrocks are a nice street carb for mild motors but suck but for off road use. The smallest amount of dirt makes them run like crap. My guess is that bushing that the throttle shaft runs through is worn out AND you have a float stuck and it's pouring fuel down the venturie.

thanks for the replies, it was dirt, alot of it, I only had one filter up close to the carb,I replaced that one and added another further down line, the tank I got still had some grime in it, I cleaned it but I guess it's hard to get it clean enough for fuel feeding a carb, I took the carb all apart cleaned it now it's good, I do like the edelbrock carb, it works great as long as it's clean ;) again thanks.

i run Edelbrocks on my Ranger all the time, and they run good, holly give the most trouble off road. everyone that i now run holly there hood are up. working on them . then tell you there good. ==dunno

I rebuild my carb once or twice a season. I may try a Holley competition series carb down the road.

I have edelbrocks on all my trucks!! there so easy to tune and simple to rebuild, I will have nothing else on my vehicles.

i agree edelbrocks dont work to well on big mud trucks if you have the time you can tune them just right and they work great there is a o ring that you may have pinched or its rotted out
IT DOESNT MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE JUST GET IN HOLD ON AND GO

I have never had a problem with my holley.... I ran one edelbrock and it was the biggest piece of crap I ever had took it off put my holley on and it ran 10 times better.... I never have to tune my holleys.... if you want power go holley or go home!

the thing with most ppl is they screw with the holley when they take it out of the box. holleys come from the factory pretty close to being tuned where they should be
