cam comes in both the short and long block.  heads come on the long block,  and neither the oil pan or intake come on either

if you order a short block kit, it normally doesn't come with a cam, pan, heads or intake. cam bearing are included but no camshaft

i guess it really depends on what you buy. complete short block(block and everything) then yes a cam. but if you buy a short block KIT then no cam

Short block is a basic lower rotating assembly.  A long block usually has everything you need, just add intake and bolt on front goodies.  Jasper includes all new tin on their long blocks with the exception of valve covers.  Some manufacturers do not include tin.

Long blocks typically have a much better warranty than short blocks.  Jasper will go 3 years 76k miles on a long block and I believe only 90 days to 6 months on a short block.
