How much was gas when you turned 16?

IM 26 AND I REMEMBER PULLING MY 86 CUTLASS IN TO THE GAS STATION 10 YEARS AGO AND DUMPING 5 BUCKS IN AND GETTING A 1/2 TANK. COULDNT PUT MORE IN THAN THAT, TANK LEAKED. BUT WHAT IS REAL INTERESTING IS WORKING MY JOB RUNING MY 97 DODGE FOR THE FIRST TWO YEARS BACK AND FORTH TO WORK HAS CHANGED DRAMATICALLY. WENT FROM $50 AWEEK TO $60 A WEEK TO $75-80 AWEEK. GOT MY 04 ALMOST A YEAR AND A HALF AGO AND IT GETS THE THE  SAME MPGS AS MY 97 AND NOW COST ME $115 TO FILL. BOTH HAD 26 GALLON TANKS AND BOTH GET AROUND 12.9MPGS. AND WHEN PEOPLE ASK ME HOW CAN YOU AFFORD IT I JUST SMILE AND SAY "ASLONG AS IVE GOT POWER I KNOW IM GETTING THE USE OUT OF IT, AND I MAKE REAL GOOD MONEY" THEN I GET IN THE TRUCK AND PULL AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION I START TO CRY,MIGHT EVEN PISS MYSELF A LITTLE.BIG JUMP FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS.

i dont remember much under 60 cents a gallon & my folks bitchin about gas prices,
  ,3 bucks worth will fill a 6 gallon can & i had gas for my motorcycle for weeks....

dont remember when i was 16 but when i was 18 i got my license and i could fill my dual tank f-150 for about $50. thinking it was down around $1.60/gallon. that didnt live long.....

it was about 96 cents per gal when I was 16 but my grandma said she remembers gas prices of 10-15 cents a gal. thats right up there with penny candy.   lol !!!

the cheapest I remember buying gas for was $1.89. Its funny I was getting mad when it went up to 2.25, now I just wish it was that low

I think it was somewhere between .95 and .99 a gal     $5 in a 4 cyclinder 5 speed S-10 got me quite a ways and back
