I was in the middle of hooking up my floor shifter I got and I broke the nut and the threads off the gear selector that hold the bracket. My question is how hard is it to replace this part in the trans ??? it is a 400 turbo 4x4 trans out of a 79 pickup
                                         Thanks  Gary

mr. goodwrench

I have had that happen and I just put the lever on and added a little tack weld to hole it and never looked back, sucks when you go to drop trans as you have to grind the weld. In order to repair the shift shaft you have to drop trans pan unhook the manual shift valve and then unscrew the nut that holds the "rooster comb" on, then pull the shaft out might as well put a new seal in when you pull it. if it were me I would just weld it.
IF YOU GOT THE HEART AND YOU THINK YOU'VE GOT THE TRUCK.......COME GET YA SOME!!!!!!!!!!!  chevv gmcc ==bud chevvv

nope

its not to bad to replace that rod just a clip and another bolt on the inside
