If It Doesnt Have Mud On It, It's Just Another Truck!

I have been driving Trucks for over 30 years and Warner is an average company to drive for. You get the shaft with most companys today, its not what it used to be. Every penny earned the hard way. if you have experance and a clean drivers lic. you could try BLT out of LeMars Ia. where I work. they have quite a few drivers living in Mich. and are not a bad outfit to drive for. Family owned about 50 trucks and 150 Reefer trailers. If you would like to find out more let me know.
I drive truck for a company out of LeMars, Iowa. Mud, hunting, motorcycles family and photography are my thing. If anyone wants to go bird hunting, let me know.

They all have their ups and downs
Werner is known in the industry for not being particularly driver friendly
they are also substantially tied into the fed govt.  concerning hours of service ie.. tattle tails in the trucks
(thats a computer that allows the cops to hook into your truck to gather info instantly)

I've got a couple buddies that drove for Werner. It's a good enough place to get your 18 months in before you start looking for another company. They are mainly looking for steering wheel holders. They left my buddy Scott stranded in California for 3 days while his daughter was being born. Long story but try to keep your nose clean and get a good dispatcher. It's always the worst your first couple years.

Maybe check with Countryside Trucking out of Sebawaing or Dave Hausbeck Trucking out of Reese.  I've known guys that drove for both companys and were happy with them.

I'm with Shaffer Trucking and so far this is the best company I have worked for. They don't babysit you all they ask is that you p/u and del. on time. I have talked to alot of Werner/Ex Werner drivers that say the pay sucks and so do the miles. With one year of ecperience Shaffer Will start you out at .38-.39 cpm. One thing I do have to say is go refridgerated. The econmy sucks and flatbed and drybox ain't doin to good right now however people have to eat, right.I am doing great here as soon as I get unloaded they've got another load on me.I normally wait around 2 hours for the next load they put on me and there not small loads. Some vary I might get a 500 mile run then get a 900 or 1900miler.Thie nice thing is they pay practical miles which is very close to what you acually drive. Here they"ve got BC/BS insurance which for the family cost me $62 a week.I do have to say there pay package ain't that bad because you get a pennie raise a year capped off at .48cpm.Plus you still get the miles. There are other ways to up your profits here.for every driver you refer you get $500 as soon as they finish orientation then another $500 after they have been here 3 months. Some drivers get heavy with referals and are making $50-60000yr and then have another $20-30000 add in referals. The one thing that does suck ir they require you to be out a min. 14 days however you get 1 day off for every 6 out with a max 4 days off at one time.Check into em.Now the Crete Carrier side is the same way but they have a General Mills dedicated.Your still out 2 weeks but you only run General Mills.I have herd alot of good things about about the Crete side and there dedicated.

And I forgot, these people know that family is important so they guarentee you home every Christmas. They don't worry about other holidays which sucks but if you have to get home for a birthday,or you have a kid that has a game coming up and you want to be there all they want is a 5-7 day notice and they will get you home even if they have to deadhead you home. They take emergencies and specail occasions serious here.
