I have a 1986 Chevy with a 350ci stock motor this truck did not come with a factory tach. I would like to install one Is this a simple plug and play with an aftermarket tach or a complex install. If so how do I do it. Any help is greatly appreciated.

should be TBI correct ???

on the  ignition coil theyre are a red and white wire... follow where the white one goes and it should be an open test port... plug tach into it.

Nope 86 was the last year for the carb, TBI started in 87 I know I've owned both years.

and yes it's a simple install you should have instructions and the wire they want hooked to the tack signal (usually green) will hook right to the cap in the empty spot nextto the dist. power wire just put a spade on it and plug it in

tach comes with 4 wires. green goes to ignition signal. red is key on power, black is ground and white goes to instrument light circuit.
