Reusing concrete slabs.

I just aquired a complete pole building that I am dismantling and moving. I would like to use as much from the site as I can when I reassmble the building on my property. I was wondering if anybody has ever heard of people cutting out concrete slabs and reusing them? I would be cutting the pieces down to about 6000 pound slabs for ease of transport and movement. I'm just wondering how stable the repositioned slabs would with good sand prep.

Let me know your thoughts. Since I just took a big pay cut and got my hours reduced I'm trying to be as cheap as I can.

long as they didnt crack when transporting... dont see why not... never heard of it tho lol.

you will have to get clean sand for the base.(under the concrete) water the sand use a compactor to compact the sand tight. only real problem you'll have is the concrete will not be smooth on the bottom. getting them to lay flat will be the trick. there will be voids once they are layed down. as soon as you start driving on they you will proball have cracks.

it could happen depending on how thick the concrete  once the transport completed u could always drill a hole thru the thickness of the concrete and put a rerod thru it and connect the concrete back together  and the rerod would hold in place

I think it would be extremely difficult to get the old concrete up with it crumbling.

Thats a good point...wonder if you could lay a few inches of wet cement on top of the sand before placing the slabs in if that would fill in the voids?

Never mind I just talked to my brother inlaw and he lays cement for a living. He said no matter what you do it will not be even because they will settle. Price for new concrete if you all the work yourself 20x40ft pole barn would be 10 yards so you would want 11yards to be safe. $100 a yard to have a truck bring it to you. Wait until after the frost season because they can only haul small loads right now so it would cost more. He suggest using asphalt if you are on the cheap!

I've come to the conclusion that I shouldn't do this.  I am just going to cut the concrete up and haul it out to my farm.
