After all the recent rain and flooding some idiots thought it be a good idea to go hit the water..... A guy came in today with a slight tick in his engine, said he went into some water over his hood at 45mph, his thought was if the engine stalls the momentum would cary him thru.... well needless to say he got what he deserved.... truck is a stock 98 s10 2.2L    I did a compression test and Cyl.2 was at 20psi and cyl.3 was 0, I thought it might been a bent valve, so pulled the head and the valve n seats were all chewed up, lots of sand and water on top of pistons, and walls were all scored up. I decided to go deeper and pulled the motor, heres what i found after pulling the pan, rods on cyl.2 & 3 bent to hell, cyl.3 is the worse, Crank, cam, and rod bearings all chewed up, for such a small tick im surprised at what I found, and from how bad it was im surprised it was running at all,   Im glad i get paid for this crap, well done idiot well done  applaudd   I hope he leared his lesson   loll

Haha i love it. Used to get about 2-3 msu student cars a summer that drove thru water and suddenly "quit" (bent rods, holes in blocks, the whole deal). Gotta love smart people cars and water dont mix well.

They said buy something you can afford... so i bought a FORD

When I had the 95 (TBI) and I was going to go through flood waters I'd just throw the intake hose in the cab. Then voila, Intake is suddenly another 2 feet higher.

And some wonder why I nestle a stock air cleaner atop all my expensive engine goodies on the red truck . . .

some people need to learn the hard way, we had a customer at the shop come in with an "engine tick".... upon inspection his oil was ALL metal shavings.... so we asked when his last oil change was....  with a puzzled look on his face he said "maybe two years ago? no wait it was 3 years"

he drove the truck for 2 more days and we heard him drive by every day, sounded like an old diesel on a below zero morning.. needles to say, we put a motor in it the next day....

Had a old guy bring a F150 in when I worked at the dealership. Wouldnt run had it towed in.  They pulled the oil plug and the sludge that came out smelled nasty. Thing had almost 60,000 miles on it. Never had a oil change. ==doh and he wanted his engine replaced under warranty LOL
