buy  USA
if you can.

If the first 3 digits of the barcode are 690, 691 or 692, the product is MADE IN CHINA.
>
>                                 471 is Made in Taiwan .
>
>                                 This is our right to know, but the government and related departments never educate the public, therefore we have to RESCUE ourselves. Nowadays,  Chinese businessmen know that consumers do not prefer products "MADE IN CHINA ", so they don't show from which country it is made.

>
>                                 690-692 . then it is MADE IN CHINA .
>                                 00 - 09 . USA & CANADA
>                                 30 - 37 . FRANCE
>                                 40 - 44 . GERMANY
>                                 47 .... Taiwan
>                                 49 . JAPAN
>                                 50 . UK
>
>                                 BUY USA by watching for "0" at the beginning of the number.

I try to buy everything made in the USA...however sometimes you have to buy foreign for instance the last time I checked the USA did not make any Plasma TV's and if they did they are not worth a p00.

But like I said for the most part I try to buy USA products especially car parts...I refuse to buy any dam car part made in China or Mexico...that's just a few dollars closer to putting them out of business and bringing our jobs home.

That's kidda hard to do. I work for a company that warehouses parts for Truck & Bus in flint and the majority of our parts come from Mexico, Canada, & some cases over seas. All of the wire harnesses come from Mexico. The same is true with Harley Davidson motorcycles when I was in the motorcycle club we went for a tour at the harley factory in Milwalkee. During our tour they told us the only part on the bike that was made in the USA was the metal sleeve in the jug. Any more cars, trucks, motorcycles, pwc, atvs,ect..... you name it are merly assembled in the USA the parts are out sourced from other countries.
Just some info for you guys.  But yes like everyone else I try to buy American when I can I'd rather pay double for American than something from China or Mexico (depending on what it is).

I did some quick research and it looks like that's actually an urban legend.  From what i've read, UPC codes do not use country of origin codes.  There is a European version of our UPC that does contain information about what country the product was licensed in, but not necessarily where it originated.

I love fact checking !
