I was under my truck I just bought and noticed it has a 14 bolt in it. Is this what they concidered a heavy half ton? What is the standard rear end in these?

BigFrank

yup  its probbly got the trailer package   theres some differences in the brake shoes also as far as the width on them  the 6 lugs have a narrower brake shoe and drum  unless its got discs on it then i dunno

Disturban

6 Lug 14 bolts are semi float rear ends installed in heavy half tons.

me too, kinda wierd. i have 3 95 chevy 4x4s and a 94 . 2 have 10 bolts, one has a 12 bolt, and the other has a 14 bolt

These 14 bolts are not full float axles...there semi floaters.  Good axle tho.....but not a one ton axle.
