say your building a 383......does the cubic inch change with rod length or just the placement in the piston.
thanks. ex- 5.7 or 6.0 or 6.125 rod. i know changin the stroke of the crank changes the displacement. just wondered about rod length.
I had the full size thing it just bored me!!!

The only people you need in your life are the ones who prove they need you in theirs

Its all fun and games till someone gets knocked up, down or out

I dont think so cause no matter how long the rod is its only gonna go as far up n down as the crank will let it in the cylinder. Hopefully you dont laugh as much reading that as I did typing it.

yea kinda what i thought to....just thought i would ask someone who actually knows, but thanks

no rod lingth dos not change the displicement it only changes the pin plicement in the piston [ longer rod higher in the piston ]

changes the compression height, which is the placement of the rod in the piston ++peace

does not change displacement but does change rod to stroke ratio which can make HUGE difference in some engines

it doesn't change displacement, but the longer rods with the longer strokes in the small blocks causes problems with your rings, i would NOT recomend going longer than a 5.7 inch rod with more than a 3.48 inch stroke, unless you like your wrist pins scratching at the back side of your oil ring pack......
