i just swapped a car for a 96 s blazer.  for some odd reason i really like these things.......lol  my question is..............it is a 96  i really like the look of the newer front end, meaning grill and lights,  can i just swap grill and lights or do i need to do something different  maybe the bumper as well?

I don't know much about the 2nd gen but you might have to change the core support..

yup watch out for the dam intake gasket on it.  Factory they are plastic and were prone to cracking and making a mess of the motor.  Happened to my 2000 ZR2.

i know about the gaskets,  not as bad on the non turtle type.   next summer its getting a fresh vortec 350

Not sure what the gaskets and engine have to do with the front end and  "clip" but I don't think you can do just a clean swap.

94-97 S-10 and Blazers Have a completely different core support from the 98-03 S/T trucks.

Here is what you need to swap it out.
98+ Headlights and turn singles. If you have Seal beams you need to get the 9005 and 9006 Pig tails and wired them in.
98+ Core support
98+ Grille assembly.
98+ Bumper and mount brackets
98+ Air dam.
Also you may/will need alot of the clips that hold the Grill in place. There are no screws and bolts that hold it in on the 98+

You can use the 94-97 Bumper but it will rub and on the grill and wear the paint down to bear metal.  I like the older bumper pn my truck b/c you can mount Driving or Fog Lights in the old Turn signal holes and keep them from getting beat to hell.

Of you have any other questions about parts swapping on the 2nd gen S/T trucks Just shoot me a PM.
I have owned a few and still own my First one.  Been in love with them Since I saw the Prom stuff for them back in 93.
Hokey Fab- Idea and Fab guy.
