wood burning insert

I recently got a wood burning insert that I plan on putting in the house but I have a few questions I thought I might throw out there.

From what I have heard and the little I checked online, I should have a actual chimney company come out and inspect what I plan on doing. Safety first. I don't want to burn my house down!  Apparently I can't just throw the insert in the fire place and let'er rip.  Stainless steel duct work is what needs to go from the stove up through the chimney??  And if the chimney is in rough shape, I might have to have it fixed. Also, the furnace vents in the same chimney I plan on using for the stove.

Any advise, tips, or maybe you might know someone that can point me in the right direction, would be awesome!!  thanks in advance!!

your dad has a wood stove hooked to the chimney with a furnace vent?? I really hope not... thats a big no no in the law books and could cause big problems..  I do hvac for a living and thats not safe or legal.. so please dont do stuff like that. it could kill you...

this is what is a no-no. that smoke will end up in your house, among other things that could go wrong

his house has 2 fireplaces and his furnace don't touch it, he has an old house, furnace gets dumped out the side the house so does the water heater
