2000 Explorer wont start

I have a 2000 Explorer just changer the lower intake gasket and now when I turn the key to the on position everything works but when I go to start it all the lights go out and nothing happens? cleaned battery terminals called the ford garage they said it was NOT THEFT system related???? Any sugjestions?

sounds like you missed a ground wire or another set of wires  ;)

i agree with something being left unplugged, or unhooked, namely a ground.

X2, could have also jerked on a wire to the starter. I have had that happen before, you dont know there is a bad spot and the smallest movement causes it to have enough connection to run lights, but not enough to start it. Could also be a loose body ground.

GOT IT.... Main wire harness connector was not plugged in all the way. Turns out that bolt that tightends them together is pretty important. Thanks for the help. Now headed to Walmart for a FOR SALE sign.
