the axle is a ford dana 44 8 lug. this happens when i hit a good bump at about 40+. i recently changed the wheel barrings on the driver side but it seems like it happens on both sides. also if im driving and it starts "rubbing" and i come to a stop, it will drive fine till the next pot hole. doesnt do it every time i hit a bump just randomly. wheels feel tight when i jack them up and give em a good shake. its suppose to be kinda warm the next couple days so i was going to rip it apart and inspect/clean everything and reassyemble. any ideas on this? kinda sounds like drakes dragging but i dont think thats it. one other thing. my lockouts are broke and wont disengage. its it ok to remove 1 of the 2 gears inside, the one that engages the axle shaft to the hub, and run that way? or should i keep all together and just pull front driveshaft until i can fix the lockouts? thanks guys GotMud?

sounds like you answered your own question about the rubbing, i would change the lockouts. removing you d shaft isnt going to stop the axles from spinning

id rather not spin the axle if i dont have to. thats why i removed part of the lockouts. if i put the lock outs back together id have to pull the d shaft cuz its offroad use only. dont have the funds right now to fix the lockouts so im looking for a way around it.
