Kind of a curious case here. I bought an 87 Jeep Comanche 4x2 not too long ago, and it ran decently for a while. Its got the 2.5 four cylinder and aw4 automatic. I already did some work on the truck, fixed a couple issues with the trans control module (shorted power/comfort switch, and fixed a short in the tcm power wire) and just started doing bodywork to it. I took the bed off to start some work on the uni-body and lay some rust encapsulator paint on it.
It sat in the front yard with the bed off for a few days (with the gas tank ratchet-strapped to a 2x4 across the uni-rails lol). I fired it up about a week later to move it out behind the house.
Comin around the house it died. No sputter at all before it died. I was doin a little investigating and found theres no power to the fuel pump. It's only got 2.5-3v to the fuel pump relay (both circuits only getting that amount).
From what I can tell, the fuel pump achieves ground through a wire in the taillight wire harness. But even when that's run back to ground, the pump still dont run. With a jumper wire from the battery to the pump, the pump does run and it does start up. So I'm thinkin the ground side of the circuit is fine. I'm just a little lost on how it could RANDOMLY lose power to the fuel pump.
Im thinkin there's a bad or loose ground somewhere. Any ideas where I should start?

PS: It's not really a big problem tho; bc if I dont get it running again with this engine/trans in it, I will be pulling the 4.0/AW4/PCM/harness from my '92 and doing a transplant. I'd rather keep this engine in it because it ran great beforehand.

check the wire to from the fuse box to the fuel pump relay, it has to be shorting out somewhere if its only getting 3v, if all else fails you could cut the wire out, and replace wire to relay and run it off an open ignition terminal in the fusebox.

SOLVED IT. Turned out to be a bad ground to the fuel pump AND an open power wire to the fuel pump. Also found some brittle wires/broken ground wire at the TPS, so not only did I get it running again but its also running and driving like a brand new truck.
