454 vortec need help

My tach will fall first then the truck dies then it will start and die again the timing is good so it's not the gear on the distributor iv never had a truck do this it's getting fuel cuz if I keep trying to start it it foolds out and smells like gas, so my tach drop and I loose spark any ideas ? Thanks

check wires to coil a believe a buddies vortec 5.7 did that then wouldn't start n found broke wire by coil. just idear.

un hook the tach. I have seen them short out and shut the engine off.

No broken wires and ill try the tach when I get home it i think it needs the tach to run don't it

It was my truck that the tac was f%#@g up on... but it wasnt making my truck die... just made the tac jump and quit working all together one day.. i found the broken wire when it wouldnt start one day.. it ended up being my cap and rotor went bad again.. those style are a bad design..but yours sounds like a short someplace..
