i'll ride whatever, but i prefer 4 stroke, they're  quieter and are easier to deal with
you get your 4 stroke and i will get out my good old  250r and smoke you all day. my dads 660r raptor wont even come close to it

Comanche Dan

I really enjoy 2 stroke dirt bikes. I've had 2 KX500s in the past and would have put them up against any 4 stroke bike or quad that wants to run the dunes.

Insert "Kawasaki Smiley" Here!!!!

if ur raceing i say 4 stroke but i dont race soo i like my two stroke 98 cr250r     i raced a 2007 honda 450 and he beat me :[     (but in my defense i popt the clutch to early and almost flipped      thats the bad part with the two strokes)

My old Yamaha was a 2 storke. the cool thing aobut that one was no mixing of the oil and gas. it did it all on its own.

I've been on both sides at the same time! My dad and I had always been 2 stroke snobs and I think it was mainly just to resist change...Grew up on 2 stroke and became very good at building, maintaining and tuning them so it never seemed like a hassle. I love a well built 2 stroke power band and my Banshee absolutely ripped. Had a +6 swing arm, narrowed rear axle, 406 kit, cool jet head, fat boy pipes, turbine core silencers, pearl white caddy paint frame with deep cherry metal flake race cut plastics and was just plain sweet. Great drag machine...My 2003 Suzuki Z400 is awesome all around. I'm running a cam kit and Yoshi head back pipe and that livened it right up. All around the z400 is more fun on any terrain and although not as top end fast, I probably have more fun on it. 4 strokes have come along way to become competitive, lighter and more track friendly and cost of parts has come down...I like both I guess.

Pic of the banshee before I had the frame caddy white and after

Ok well being a motocross racer for well most of my life I can tell you that 4 stroke is the only way to go...Now of cource this is only my opinion and only applies to bikes but here is what we have thought now for years... with a 4 stroke your fatigue will set in about half as fast as with a 2 stroke... sure the bikes are a little heavier but the difference in weight is so minor that the overall power and ability to ride it harder and longer on the track makes up for that... we were some of the very first people to switch over to the 4 strokes and now I think just about every real weekend to weekend racer is riding a 4 stroke... I can tell you looking forward in the future the 2 stroke bikes are going to start getting weened out..
Good opinion, but i have to respectfully dissagree. 4 strokes made a huge hit but 2 strokes are getting back in the swing of things. as a 12 year ama member and working in a family owned motorcycle shop for 6 years, alot of hare scrambles racers, weekend warriors and people who are struggling to make ends meet just so they can race that weekend (myself being one of those people) are all going back from the 4 stroke to the 2 stroke. there cheapier to buy, race, and work on. Plus you can race a 250 2 stroke vs the 250 4 stroke in ama. sure 4 strokes make the average person a faster, but they also make them more lazy rider. ktm still makes a full line of 2 stroke bikes including a new fuel injected oil injected 250/300. But my best advice, ride what you get the BEST deal on. no one makes a bad bike. im just happy to still be riding. =)
