It's all fun n games till someone gets bit. It wont matter that they were in your yard. A bite is a bite, no matter where it happens. Just ask me. I'm going thru a law suit as we speak. My boxer bit a kid who was hitting him. Now the parents are looking for 75k. :( It just is'nt worth it.

i dont allow anyone on my property & i let my dog out when i see salesman & johovahs witness & bible thumpers knockin at neighbors door, oddly enough , they never knock or stop in ,

I don't blame you for letting the dog out, but I have to agree with 454_jeep...it is just too risky and the risk is not worth taking...what I would do is tell the people to keep there flamin kids away from your property.  they have no right to be on your property unless you say so...other than that, I don't know what to say...hope all works out for you.

And good luck 454_jeep, hope all works out for you too...hell if I was the dog I would have bitten the stupid kid too...

maybe put up signs   like  "bewares of  dogs" or  "no trepassing" ... that ll help sometimes???

a  lady  and  kid was  in my house, unnone to  me or my wife.  she was  useing the  phone,  and  the  sheep dog i had  bit the  kid  and  i was  still in trouble  over  it.

then i was told  if  someone  breaks in your house,  and your dog  bites them  your still  sued  over it.
and if you  put up sings. ( beware of  dog.) that  means  you now it  mean  ==dunno  what a  guy to do.

get a  camera  and  video tape them and  go  see the  prosaquter.  no  joking.     cover your ass.

hey,i just went threw this.michigan has a law.your dog bites someone, dog can be in your car,in your yard,or in your house.if he bites someone, your hit with it.my house ins. is skyhi now. and dog was in the house, when it nipped someone. so ya want to be carefull.on the beware of dog signs.there's people out there, that look for them.with this law,its easy cash for them. so be carefull. just trying to help ya out.and save ya some money. from one that got hit, with it.

that really is BS I've met your dogs and they are nice. I'm kind of concerned about that with my dog too, he's a pup and want's to play with everyone but other people don't know that and they freak out when they see him running tword them, I don't know what to do I just make sure I keep reasuring them he's a pup and want's to play till I can get ahold of his collor, but at over 80 pounds be outways most kids and he loves kids I'm worried he'll knock one down and I'll have to deal with the parents. ==shrug

as far as the kids parents coming over and talking bitching at you I'd have said I didn't know the kids were out there untill after I let the dog out, I don't know if it woulda worked but I'd have tryed anyways. and them proceded to inform him that if HIS kids hadn't been on YOUR property They wouldn't have even known the dog was out and also inform him about all the previous tormenting they had done.

The guy must be an idiot anyways there's no way that 4 foot fence would stop them dogs if they really wanted to hurt someone both of your dogs could jump that fence without a problem.

Well i dont have alotta to go from cause my dog runs from everything that breathes, and some stuff that dont.... but i'd def. keep the dog inside when kids are in the yard or whatever, just not worht it to risk the dog biting someone n getting sued.. lotta sue happy people out there no matter if there kid deserved it or not. ... ur neibors sound like someone who might trip leaving the yard after that conversation and sue anyways.

Don't know how true it is, but I was told that if you put up a sign that says "DOG!!!" and not beware of dog, there isn't nothing that they can do. But like I said, I don't know how true it is. I don't think you was wrong by doing that.

yeah the law sucks but its just the same as if someone breaks into your house to steal stuff and if he breaks his leg or something he can sue you and win. that is bull just the same as if your dog bites someone that is in the wrong for being there. The laws protect the offender before you. something is wrong with this I think. all i know Alvin is I wouldnt do it again. I dont want to see you have to put your dog down or get sued. becareful. I agree with what your did but its not worth it. We are all in hard times with the prices of everything going up and people are stupid they will send there kids out so they can get bit or something so they can sue you( EVERYONE IS SUE HAPPY)

just my oppinion but you shouldn't use the dog to scare the kids, just put up no trespassing signs and if they trespass than call the police, and have them speak to the kids and there parents,my dog is kinda agressive and would probly bite someone if they walked into my house and he didnt know them, but he is a loved family pet as I hope yours are and I wouldnt want to have to hear that you had to have your dogs put to sleep over a situation that you can controll yourself, peacfully.

I used to live in linden and i had a 140lb. Rot/Lab Mix and she was the greatest dog i ever had. the only problem i had with her and other people was the fact that i had to have her tied up in my fenced in backyard because she was a fence hopper and she broke the gate that lead into the backyard as well. We had no tresspassing on 2 trees in the front yard and one on the back gate.  the 2 teenage boys across the street used to rip down the signs and walk around the fence and tease her to try and get her to pull her stake out and jump the fence. i came home from work one day and found my pit tied to my front porch with a muzzle strapped to her head and a note tied to her collar that said "this dog is a menance, keep this dog tied up". So with no hesistation, i staked her in my front yard with no fence so my whole nieghborhood could see that i really do tie my dog.  Since then...i never had a problem...         maybe you should just start tieing your dogs up and make sure that people see that they are tied and if someone comes into your yard then you could actually prove that you were doing nothing wrong.
