I have a th350 in my truck right now, we had the truck out to a mud bog a couple weeks ago and we broke the drive shaft the runs from the trans to the divorced t-case when it broke it took out the tail shaft housing. well today I installed a new tailshaft housing and built a new drive shaft. the trans was 2 qts low on fluid from the housing cracking so I topped it off. well I tried putting the trans in gear and it does nothing... its like its in neutral all the time! It does not have any gears. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be? park works so it did not break the out put shaft.... the trans has a b&m shift kit, and a 3000 stall converter....

i know this sounds dumb but did ya make sure the t-case is not in nutrual? when we just put my tranny in my truck last month i forgot the t-case was in nutrual and when i put the tranny in drive i just sat there. i freaked but then relized what it was and i put the t-case in gear and when i shifted the tranny back into drive off i went.
LIVE HARD, BOGG HARD, DIE MUDDY!!!

sounds like the trans toasted.... thats the only explination i can think of

91 k1500

how and why? do you think the clutches are smoked or is there something broken internally?
wouldn't it have some sort of gear even if the trans was toast? it will rev right to the rev limiter in every gear.... there is no load on the motor what so ever.

does anyone know of a place that can test a converter and make sure its still good before I go and spend another 500 bucks on a stall converter....

easy way to tell  is hook up a pressure gauge to a port with main line pressure, see what you get for a reading. In park at 2000 rpm you should have atleast 60psi, and atleast 70psi in drive.

if your going to check it make sure you have a gauge that can go to 200 or even 300psi.. just incase. That will tell you if you have a good T.C and pump.... but either way its a good idea to replace your TC after a trans burns up... but if the fluids not burnt ya might not have too.

if you hook up the guage here it should give ya main line pressure..

my truck has a divorced transfer case in it so there is a small drive shaft connecting the trans to the t-case. it was not spinning when the trans was in gear...... Checked the converter bolts, they where all there and tight......

x2
or do you have solid motor or trans mounts and rubber mounts, for example solid motor mounts and rubber trans mounts that could possibly be a cause. ==shrug Your not the first one to do that I've seen it before.

Hammerlane

Nope, the problem is right there in the 2nd picture...
steel toe boots have been known to cause this
as have a heavy right foot.

a loose nut on the end of the steering column could also be a culprit  ;D

Over the Edge Sharpening systems, cutlery, shear, scissor sharpening
