I recently bought a 99 gmc sierra and yesterday i noticed it started shifting hard into 2nd gear and a little bit into 3rd, and will clunk sometimes (sounds like the u joint) I checked the fluid and its all good and doesnt smell burnt or anything. I dont even know where to start..... any ideas?

try changing the filter because it may be getting plugged up and just bad fluid in general

Vibrating is not good...last time I had a tranny doing that it turned out to be a crack in the TQ converter.

there may be a rebuild in your future thats all i can really say without looking inside the trans

A friend of mine  had a 96' silverado and his will periodically clunk into third gear. He replaced all the u joints checked tranny mounts etc. Then he took it In to a tranny shop they went through the whole thing and charged him 700 dollars and it still does it. It's been doing this for about 5 years and no problems just turn up the radio. LOL the vibration is probably a different story. I would check the driveshaft for a bent conditon or dents missing balancing weights etc.

Corey

got it fixed the other day.. it was the spacer plate.. dont really know how it works or anything but the little ball that falls into the hole had reamed itself out so it created its own shift kit.. he fixed it for dirt cheap so im happy
