Gas Tank

I have a 86 chevy short box 4x4 and was wondering what was the smallest tank they put in it?  Cause I keep running out of fuel lol

12 or 15 gal.

Also, FWIW, look to make sure the tank's not dented. A big dent will dramatically reduce your tank's capacity.

do you have fuel leak   or   does your gauge not work?
that would be the old side saddle tank and I beleave the smallest tank was a 16 gal.

My gas gauge doesnt work but i have to get it working soon

Use your trip meter..

GM offered 16 gallon and 20 gallon tanks in its trucks  in 86.

Does your truck have dual tanks? or single............you can always run dual tanks.

I have a single tank
None of my stock guages work, only my aftermarket ones

The 86 doesn't have a trip meter anyhow.
