anyone mess with the timing on a 360? i moved the distributor and it helped some and messed with the idle screw, but i still have some popping at 3000 rpm, and the motor shakes like crazy when i shift it in 2nd or 3rd at low rpms. never did it before. i know the timeing for this motor is 10b but it seems to get better at 20b. should i keep turning the dist.cap to make it better? im so confused... need help.....

have you checked your timing chain and gear they could be worn and the chain could sliping at high rpm's just a thought.
when I tore down my 460 you could almost take the timing chain off with removing any of the gears.

check ur firing order and ur spark plugs could have a wire backwards.....

pull  number one  spark plug out,  bring up comp. and  set on 0    check your  timing.  see if  it  jumped time.     fowled  plugs,    could  be  many things.   is  it a points  dist.   ==dunno

i've had a few of those old rambler motors...  360 were know for the timing chains. also pull you dist. and look at the gear on the bottom and see how sharp the teeth are.
startin over...again
