trans question

i pulled the trans on my truck today to swap it the trans in it has a real long shaft than like a 2in plate that goes between trans and transfer case... i got a extra trans but the tail shaft is too short... is there anything i can do about this or does someone know where i can buy one

change the  tail shaft, or find someone that can, or get differnt trany.  what trany is it

Like Dave said what's the tranny and what's the tcase

tranny is the 350 turbo.. im not familair with changin the shaft or else i would have done it ima tear apart the trans and see if i can figure it all out tomorrow if not that i dont know places charge too much to do that stuff kinda low on money

That's what I thought the spare you got is probobly set up for a 203 tcase and the one in the truck is set up for a 208 which uses a 2wd shortshaft that has been cut down. The 350's are a pretty easy tranny to go through but if you've never done it before then I would recomed that you get a good manual first.

the one in my truck right now has where the driveshaft slides in the tcase the rear driveshaft.... the spare has where i need to use a u joint to hook up rear shaft... how do u know which tcase is which.....also i cracked 2 bi pieces off of the bell housing

If the tcase is all aluminum than it's most likely a 208 if it's cast iron then it's either a 203 or a 205 and the safe bet there would be the 203
